Object Lesson: We can Lead but not Push those Under Our Leadership

Take a small rope of two feet in length and hold one end. Give the other end to someone who is under your influence. Begin to walk with the rope in your hand watch how the other person follows you because he is being led by you as he holds on to the other end. But then turn around and face the person and try to push the string toward the person and show how the string just sags down in the middle and doesn't actually cause the other person to move in any direction. Explain that you can LEAD people but you cannot PUSH people where you want them to go!
