If you take an empty plastic bottle and put it in a
stainless steel pot of water it will not float but it will fall over. However
if you have small rocks and fill up the bottle one-quarter it provides a foundation
and it will float UPRIGHT. James implies that without Christ as your foundation
you will be like a double-minded man who is like a boat that can not float but
is subject to the wind and waves, etc.
